History

Lying near the border of Lorain and Erie counties, picturesque Mill Hollow Nursery is tucked behind the 1830’s sandstone home of Bob and Jody Frimel. Mill Hollow Nursery has been owned and operated by Jody Frimel since 1986. Few places reflect the history of Brownhelm Township as well as this original Brownhelm homestead. Located at 51595 North Ridge Rd. (Mason Rd. in Erie Co.) this scenic property neighbors the Lorain County Metro Parks, Vermilion River Reservation and historic Mill Hollow Bacon Museum. Jody Frimel along with her husband Bob built their first greenhouse 31 years ago. A second greenhouse was added 6 years later and a third greenhouse 4 years after that. Mill Hollow Nursery is a seasonal greenhouse business specializing in the “unique” and grows many new and unusual varieties of annuals, perennials, culinary herbs, heirloom vegetable plants and hanging baskets.

In addition to growing plants, Mill Hollow Nursery offers a container planting service for homeowners and businesses. There is a potting shed available for do-it-yourselfers. A garden shop off one of the greenhouses, sells a wide array of unusual containers and garden accessories. From imported English garden planters to garden whimsy created by local artisans, there are many one-of-a-kind items. Jody Frimel offers classes and workshops in the spring and is available for talks. The greenhouses are open 6 days a week, Tuesday-Sunday from 10:00 – 5:00 May 5, 2017 until June 24, 2017.

Our customers tell us that we have the best variety, quality, and prices in the area. Stop by and see for yourself!
